Our board — a group of more than 40 reporters, insiders and editors — is looking ahead to this season with a new variant of NBA Power Rankings. Voters were asked to decide on the better team going into this year in a series of head-to-head matchups comprising tens of thousands of votes.
Notice: Our best-case/worst-case situations and month-by-month win proportions were made using ESPN’s Basketball Power Index. For best-case/worst-case scenarios, we used outcomes that had a 3 percent or greater prospect of happening, based on BPI projections of the 2018-19 season.
