It was a 2019 NBA Finals, but we finally have our winners. It was an entertaining series involving the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors, but the group from Canada managed to shut this one out.
After the Warriors defeated the Raptors in Game 5 in Canada, many believed the Western Conference powerhouse would be able to tie things up in Game 6 and make things interesting in a Game 7. While his ACL tore in Game 6 however, his Achilles ruptured in Game 5.
With the injuries to two star players, Golden State could not keep up with the Raptors that are electrifying. Kawhi Leonard managed to control earning 2019 NBA Finals MVP honors. More importantly, he helped Toronto win everything in his first season up north.
In Toronto’s 114-110 victory, Leonard scored 22 points From the series-clinching triumph. He was a no-brainer for MVP, his next time after being named Finals MVP together with the San Antonio Spurs, earning the honour. He’s just the third player in league history to win NBA Finals MVP with two teams.
