Mike Perry Free Breakdown
Perry brings big power on the feet and a durable style to adopt brawls. He can be outmanoeuvred by technical boxers but against the likes of Ponzinibbio, a top competitive striker for the branch, he was very aggressive. Perry is powerful from the clinch but his takedown defense remains unproven against a legitimate grappler. Cowboy could harness the floor game as he has underrated wrestling, however, he tends to struggle unpredictable gameplans. Getting sucked into brawls is a common problem and here against Perry that might be a significant mistake. He’s got big power himself but both men are very hittable. On the feet it likely favours Perry, at least for the first half of the struggle when he is most dangerous. Look for a back and forth warfare, with the durability of Perry making the gap — as both guys consume deep damage.Andrei Arlovski Breakdown
Arlovski is on a 3 fight losing streak but has been competitive in all fights going back to his KO loss to Ngannou. At 40 years old he brings a much less aggressive style nowadays that has lead to six sequential decisions. His output looks to be slowing his precise boxing style remains, allowing him to work behind a jab against diminished competitions. Sakai is much younger so could still be improving, but so far has failed to impress. He is large and throws powerful yet slow singular strikes, with low quantity. Mostly a fighter, Arlovski won’t need to worry about too many different weapons.
This is very likely to be a gradual fight using the effective striker coming out on top. Look for Arlovski to prevent exchanges and poke Sakai in the outside or use his wrestling to maintain him against the fence. If he can avoid getting caught a decision here is probably for the underdog.
Bet = Arlovski at 2.30 (+130) chances. Risk 3 Units to win 3.90 Units.
Virna Jandiroba Breakdown
Jandiroba is a severe BJJ blackbelt making her UFC debut with a 14-0 record. She’s jiu-jitsu wins over both Claudia Gadelha and Amanda Nunes. Whilst restricted with striking, she is constant with takedowns and has a huge variety of methods to acquire fights to the ground. On top she is quite strong, maintaining control and attacking subs. This is obviously a massive step up in competition by Invicta against Esparza, a true veteran. Carla is on a losing streak against fellow grapplers and hasn’t displayed great takedown defense to match her offensive wrestling skills. She would be best to attempt to keep this fight standing where her enhanced striking should have the ability to edge out volume.
Jandiroba isn’t shown at this level but seems like the real deal, demonstrating outstanding technique and composure. Worst case situation Esparza can defend off her back and create scrambles to induce striking exchanges, taking us into a close decision. A much better position is Jandiroba dominating with her top control and procuring a unanimous decision or finding a submission. An Esparza finish is very unlikely. Given the chances and respective paths to success, a shot on the newcomer in even money is fantastic value.
